A BRIEF HISTORY

Congress created a nationwide Protection and Advocacy System for People with Developmental Disabilities in the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 1975. There is a protection and advocacy system operating in every state and territory of the United States, in Washington D.C., and for Native Americans. Congress has expanded the authority of the P&A systems to serve all disabilities and to operate within the following statutes:

OUR MISSION

Our website is dedicated to advocating for and empowering individuals with disabilities by providing a comprehensive platform for awareness, support, and services. It serves as a hub for raising public understanding of the challenges faced by people with disabilities while celebrating their achievements and contributions. Through a wide range of resources, we connect individuals and families to vital services such as accessible education, employment opportunities, legal support, and healthcare. Additionally, we foster a community where advocacy efforts amplify the voices of people with disabilities, promoting inclusion and equal rights. Our mission is to create a society where everyone is valued, supported, and empowered to thrive.
